It’s tough to name a field that Allyson hasn’t worked in. Marketing? Check. Communications? Check. Politics, social media, nonprofit? Check, check, check.
The Baltimore native grew up mostly in the Northeast until relocating to Charlotte, NC in 2011. Her early career included operations and fundraising work at OperaDelaware before spending eight years in volunteer management, event planning, and fundraising at Georgetown University. Her move to the South brought a change in career trajectory, too, as she ventured in to public relations and communications.
Her roles have included finance director for Edwin Peacock’s mayoral campaign; volunteer manager for the American Presidential Experience, produced in coordination with the 2012 Democratic National Convention; and fundraiser and community liaisons for both Larken Egleston’s Charlotte City Council District 1 campaign and Spencer Merriweather’s Mecklenburg District Attorney campaign.
Allyson graduated from American University with a degree in business administration and earned an MBA from Georgetown University.
She’s a past member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), a two-time committee member on the Vote YES to Bonds campaign (2016 and 2018), certificate holder from Rutgers University’s CSR program, and a graduate of the Harvard Business School Club of Charlotte’s management development program.
Her extensive volunteer interests include Classroom Central, Carolina PAWS, the Georgetown Club of Charlotte, and No Kid Hungry. She also serves on the boards of FiA (Females in Action), the Junior League of Charlotte, and Theatre Charlotte.
